movies galore
I just watched two movies in two consecutive days and 3 movies in two weeks.
First movie, the Munich, rated M18, helmed by Eric Bana and directed by Steven Spielberg. The movie talks about the event after the killings of jewish sportsmen in the Omplyics at Munich by the palestinians terrorists. Eric Bana leads a group of 4 other men with different abilities on a mission to kill the masterminds behind the Munich event. In the movie, its show the team being caught in a moral dilemma and torn between loyalty to their country and their moral conscience. It is also successful in being unbiasness in showing both the jews and palestinians views. Certainly a movie worth spending your money on.
The 2nd movie I watched was cry wolf. Its about a group of students writing an hoax about a series of murders and spreaded it around through email after a girl was killed in the woods. They in the end one by one become their own victims of their haox, being killed one by one by the killer. Though the movie is well paced and sometimes makes u jump out of your seat, the plot sucks to the core. There are some twists and the ending was anti climax and quite crap. But if you want some cheap thrills, you may consider watching this movie on a weekday.
The 3rd movie I saw v for vendetta, Hugo Weaving plays the main character, a masked man named 'V' who tries to topple the autocratic government set in the near future. I feel Hugo Weaving has done a great job here, you will never know that its him before you see the credits espically after his roles as elrond in LOTR and agent smith in the Martix Triology. The idea the movie is trying to bring across certainly makes you think especially in relation to recent events like the iraq war and the terrorism attacks. The movie touches on rather senstive issues like the power of the media, autocratic governments, terrorisms and how the government can use fear to gain support of the people. One very interesting idea that was brought up was that the people had sometimes gave too much power to the government. The action scenes was not bad, though there could have been more. Nevertheless, it's worth seeing the movie just to see the different ideas brought up in the movie.
